Officially small but mighty

Rebecca here, reporting for blog duty!

Now, we’re not usually ones to blow our own trumpet, but we’re really proud to share with you some exciting recognition and feel good moments for Team FLP in recent weeks…

Kate and Rebecca at the Women in Financial Advice Awards

When Kate was flying solo, her aversion to horn-tooting was something to behold. Rarely have I met someone who does such an excellent job, without any kind of desire to brag about it.

As a bit of background, I’ve had the privilege to work in a few really good firms in my time, and so I was absolutely confident in the fact that FLP was a force to be reckoned with. So, with some “gentle coaxing”, I managed to convince Kate to let me throw our hat into the ring and just see what happened.

It turns out, a lot happened…

Firstly, Kate was named a finalist at the Women in Financial Advice Awards for Woman of the Year - Retirement Planning. Although Kate didn't take home the win this time, it was an achievement in itself to be recognised among some of the best women in the profession.

Then, to brighten the train journey home, we were delighted to find out that Financial Life Planning has been named in the Citywire New Model Adviser Top 100. Despite being one of the smallest firms to make the cut, this officially recognises us as one of the top advice firms in the UK in 2025.

As if that wasn’t enough, we then had confirmation that FLP has been shortlisted for Advice Firm of the Year - Wales and Best Adviser Website at the Professional Adviser awards 2026.

So why does this all matter? Are awards really all that?

With a “small but mighty” ethos, we strive to do our best every day, but as a tiny team with a desire to do things differently, it can sometimes be difficult to benchmark ourselves.

Awards aren’t everything - we will always take the most from the lovely words we receive directly from our clients - but we’re so proud to receive this level of recognition and confirmation that we are are punching with some of the big guns. It turns out, once we put ourselves out there, we were a contender!

Who knew*?

(*Rebecca. Rebecca knew.)

I think there’s a lot to be said here for not underestimating yourself. For taking a punt. For asking “what’s the worst that could happen?” and just giving things a go.

You never know what exciting opportunities could come your way.
